The band is pleased to return to the bandstand on Decatur Square for the city’s Celebrate July 4 in Decatur (Georgia) Independence Day event. We will showcase the band’s talent there for the first time since July 2019 when the pandemic interrupted this celebration for two years.
The band will present a light Pops/Patriotic concert including popular pieces from Broadway and film, marches, A Tribute to our nation’s military personnel and their families with the Service Songs, and the premiere performance of a piece by our Music Director featuring vocalists Sophie Decker, Shelia Gatlin, and Joyce Benton. As a special treat, the band will introduce its newest musical ensemble, their Dixieland Group.
Arrive early with your lawn chairs and/or blankets along with your picnic basket and favorite beverages, as the City of Decatur (Georgia) fills up the square to celebrate our nation’s 246th birthday. We will end the concert with several marches including John Philip Sousa’s “The Stars and Stripes Forever” to the backdrop of fireworks – one of the largest fireworks displays in metro Atlanta.
